SD-WAN Solutions: Revolutionizing Network Management for Businesses

9 Feb 2024
In today's highly connected world, businesses of all sizes constantly seek ways to enhance their network connectivity, reduce costs, and improve overall efficiency. One groundbreaking solution that has gained significant traction is SD-WAN (Software-defined Wide Area Network). This innovative technology allows companies, including small and medium-sized enterprises, to efficiently manage their networks, regardless of their size or number of locations.

One of the key advantages of implementing an SD-WAN network is the ability to increase connectivity while simultaneously reducing MPLS network WAN costs. Traditionally, achieving this level of connectivity and cost-effectiveness required dedicated engineering, equipment from multiple providers, and monthly fees for managed services. However, with SD-WAN, organizations can now easily create redundant networks with resiliency, previously unattainable for many businesses.

SD-WAN solutions offer improved connectivity to remote offices and data centers, even at a considerable distance. This enhanced connectivity is possible through partnerships with major carriers, enabling businesses to leverage SD-WAN regardless of their current internet provider. By eliminating the need for complex protocols like Border Gateway Protocol and costly hardware, SD-WAN simplifies the process of achieving fault tolerance and load balancing, making it accessible to businesses of all sizes.

SD-WAN solutions can significantly reduce costs for companies still utilizing legacy MPLS networks. While MPLS can still be used, it is considerably more expensive than SD-WAN. By opting for SD-WAN, businesses can achieve the same level of network performance while benefiting from additional features such as internet aggregation and redundancy.

At Progressive Office Cabling, we offer a range of SD-WAN solutions that can be customized to suit the unique needs of businesses of all sizes. Our team of experts will work closely with you to design and implement the optimal SD-WAN solution for your organization. Whether you have a single location or multiple sites, our SD-WAN solutions can help streamline your network management, enhance connectivity, and reduce costs.

Conclusion

In conclusion, SD-WAN solutions have revolutionized network management for businesses. With its ability to increase connectivity, reduce costs, and provide redundant networks with resiliency, SD-WAN is a game-changer for organizations of all sizes. Businesses can quickly implement SD-WAN regardless of their current internet provider by partnering with major carriers. If you're still using a legacy MPLS network, it's time to consider the cost-saving benefits and additional features that SD-WAN solutions offer. Contact us today, and let's work together to design the optimal SD-WAN solution for your business.

The 5 Most Common Structured Cabling Errors – Part 1

19 Oct 2017

Structured Cabling, cablesStructured cabling systems are so standardized that good practices should merely entail following ISO/IEC, CENELEC or Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) documentation for panel and outlet standards, cable pathway standards, maximum cable and patch cord lengths, patch testing standards, etc. Strictly doing so will invariably result in an installation that is professional and trouble free. In addition, as data speeds grow faster and faster, following industry standards becomes even more crucial.

Improperly installed cabling made up of shorter runs, which do not overly stress the system, may function well enough. In addition, data speeds may be quite beneath the cable specification capacity. As an example, CAT5e carrying 100Mbps and capable of 1Gbps will have ample margin of error. However, structured cabling systems still need qualified technicians for proper installation supporting maximum data speeds over the entire network as required.

The following will discuss the five most common errors of structured cabling. Remember to call an experienced and expert cabling installation team to get the best results for your company’s project.

Error No. 1

Considering cables as merely wiring is the first error. They are actually very important electronic components that provide the pathway for data from point to point within a network. These points may be a desktop PC, a network switch, server, router, and wireless access point. When you consider that cables make these connections possible, then you can understand how important it is to make sure that the cabling is of high quality and properly installed.

Error No. 2

Running data cables near power cables is the second error. Even when cables are screened, this practice is unsound. When data cables are running near and parallel to   power cables, noise emitted by power cables may infiltrate data cables. As the load carried by power cables fluctuate, resulting spikes or surges may radiate into the data cables, creating undesired noise decreasing the quality of the data transmission.

Part 2 will discuss three more common errors of structured cabling.
